Privacy policy
This policy explains what Orbit collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Who operates Orbit
Orbit is an independent project operated by Zetsukae. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to contact@zetsukae.com. If your local law requires a physical address or legal representative, this policy should be updated with those details before launch.
Information we use
Orbit may process your email address, username, profile avatar, messages and replies, votes, reports, moderation records, account-block records, password-reset activity, and dates associated with that activity. Supabase and other service providers may also process IP address, device, browser, log, and security information.
Messages, usernames, and avatars may be publicly visible. Do not post information you want to keep private.
How I use it
I use this information to create and secure accounts, authenticate users, display community content, provide voting and replies, store avatars, investigate reports, enforce the Community Guidelines, prevent abuse, maintain service security, communicate with you, and comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases
Where required by law, my bases may include providing the service you request, my legitimate interests in security and moderation, consent where requested, and compliance with legal obligations. These bases may vary depending on where Orbit operates and where users are located.
Retention
Messages that do not reach the configured vote thresholds are scheduled for deletion after two days. Other messages, votes, profiles, avatars, reports, moderation records, authentication records, and backups may be retained for the periods needed to provide the service, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, comply with law, and protect legal claims. Retention periods should be reviewed periodically and may change as the service and legal requirements change.
Providers and disclosures
Orbit uses Supabase for authentication, database, realtime updates, and storage. These providers may process information on my behalf and may operate in other countries. I may disclose information to providers, legal authorities, professional advisers, or other parties where required or permitted by law, or where necessary to protect users and the service.
Your choices
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or deletion of your information. Contact contact@zetsukae.com. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. I may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law permits or requires it.
Cookies and local storage
Orbit and its providers may use essential cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies for authentication, security, session handling, and temporary notices. Add a separate cookie notice if analytics, advertising, or non-essential tracking is introduced.
Changes
I may update this policy as Orbit changes. I will post the revised version here and update the effective date. Where required, I will provide additional notice.
Effective date: September 18, 2026. The rules that apply may vary depending on where I operate and where users are located. This is a practical starting document for an independent operator, not legal advice.
